England squad announced for first Test against Pakistan, Butler gets another chance

The England cricket team has announced the squad for the first Test to be played against Pakistan after the series win against West Indies.  There has been no change in the squad that landed against the Windies.  The first match of the three-match series is to be played between England and Pakistan from 5 August.

Pakistan has announced its 20-man squad for the 3-match Test series against England.  Veteran fast bowlers Wahab Riaz and Sarfaraz Ahmed have also been included in this team.  Apart from this, Fawad Alam, who has performed well in domestic cricket, has also got a place in the Pakistan team.  However, middle-order batsman Iftikar Ahmed has not been included in the squad.

Earlier, PCB had announced a total of 29 players for the Test and T20 series.  It was speculated that Iftikar Ahmed would get a place in the Pakistan team in place of Harris Sohail.  Harris Sohail withdrew from the tour due to the corona virus.  On the other hand, Wahab Riaz expressed his desire to return to Test cricket once again.  He had said that if the Pakistan team needs him, then he will be available for Test cricket and perhaps that is why he has been selected in the team.

England cricket team selector James Taylor on Wednesday announced a 14-man squad for the first match against Pakistan to be played in Manchester.  No changes have been made to the team that played in the last Test against the West Indies.  The pair of veteran James Anderson and Stuart Broad will once again be seen together.  At the same time, wicketkeeper Jose Butler has also been given another chance.

Pakistan has announced a 20-member squad for the three-match Test series against England starting on 5 August.  Experienced Wahab Riaz and Sarfraz Ahmed have returned to the Pakistan Test team, while middle order batsman Iftikar Ahmed has been dropped.  Remember that the PCB had announced a joint squad of 29 players for the Test and three T20 International series.

It was expected that Iftikar would be given the chance to replace Harris Sohail, who withdrew from the tour amid concerns of an epidemic.  Riyaz, meanwhile, desired his return to the longest format of the game last month, while last year he made an indefinite distance from Test cricket.  Wahab has found a place in the 20-member Pakistan squad.
